Jantela: what we do

Success through communication, partnership and collaboration

Why are we building partnerships?

Jantela was set up as an umbrella organisation to co-ordinate the work of groups helping refugees and migrants. We felt better communication and organisation between groups and services would help us all work more successfully.

Partnership working is against the competitive culture, where groups compete for funding. Our goal is to work together to create new services, attract funders and share resources.

How we support member groups

  • Keeping in touch with the work of other organisations.
  • Publicising services.
  • Free advice and information about developing groups. For example, about fundraising, office systems, policy, development, and achieving quality marks.
  • Access to a network which supports partnership working.
  • Opportunities for consortium bidding. This allows groups to approach funders who would not normally consider supporting smaller organisations.
  • Keeping individual identity, but also gaining the benefits of group membership.

How we support refugees & asylum seekers

Our partner groups offer a range of services for migrants and refugees across Yorkshire and Humberside.
